Salvage cycle or titled

emoticon I checked out the Ohio inspection process for getting a license plate for my Indy cycle. What I found was Ohio law does not distinguish between a two wheel and a three wheel motorcycles, so if you have a salvage title it has to be converted to a normal title. A lot of work. Now if your title is from a licenseable cycle, all you have to do is buy a license, you do not have to go thru the inspection process even thou you built the front half of the cycle. Be sure to check the laws in your state. Happy cycling

Re: Salvage cycle or titled

I built the Original Vehicle back in 1994 while living in Virginia and at that time they primarily required proof of purchase for the main parts (engine, frame, etc) - usually a reciept is good enough. I had to license and register it as a "Specialty Constructed Motorcycle" and have it inspected at a state inspection station that could inspect both motorcycles and automobiles.
Once I build it in compliance with the state police inspection requirements, sent in the registration form with copies of my receipts. They called me back once they were finished processing so that they could ccordinate a date/time to attach the VIN. The state official drilled/riveted the VIN to the frame and then we went to the DMV together to finish up the paperwork that same day.
